The University’s main site is in Trieste ,in Piazzale Europa 1 overlooking the city. The historical central structure dating back to 1924 is flanked by more modern buildings to create a university campus with offices, classrooms and laboratories for almost all the degree courses. The campus hosts the single-cycle degree course in Law (Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies), the bachelor’s and master’s courses in Engineering (Department of Engineering and Architecture) and the bachelor’s and master’s courses of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, the Department of Physics, the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Department of Economic, Business, Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.
San Giovanni Teaching Hub
The San Giovanni Teaching Hub is located in the park of the same name a short distance from the main site. The Hub houses the offices and classrooms of the Department of Life Sciences and the Department of Mathematics and Geosciences.
The Department of Medical, Surgical and Health Sciences is spread across a number of sites in the city: Cattinara Hospital (Ospedale di Cattinara), the Maggiore Hospital (Ospedale Maggiore) with the teaching hub and the Human Anatomy Section in Via Manzoni and the Trieste Institute for Social Response (Istituto Triestino per Interventi Sociali - ITIS), the Burlo Garofolo Scientific Hospital and Treatment Institute (Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico - IRCCS - Burlo Garofolo) and the Valmaura Teaching Hub.
The School for Interpreters and Translators (Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies) is in Via Filzi 14, close to the main station.
The Department of Humanities is spread across six sites in the Borgo Giuseppino, Campo Marzio and Colle di San Vito areas of Trieste.
GORIZIA
Since 1989, the University of Trieste has had a satellite site in Gorizia in the former Seminario Minore building, which has been renovated and extended and currently hosts the bachelor’s and master’s courses in International and Diplomatic Sciences (Department of Political and Social Sciences) and the single-cycle degree course in Architecture (Department of Engineering and Architecture).
PORDENONE
Since 1991, there has been a further satellite site in Pordenone (in Via Prasecco 4/1) where the degree courses in Production Engineering and Management (Department of Engineering and Architecture) are taught.
PORTOGRUARO
Finally, in 1997, the University also established a satellite site in Portogruaro, in the Province of Venice, where degree courses in Education are held.
