03 October, 2019

The first edition of the Summer School of World History took place from the 25th to the 30th of August in Nanjing at the prestigious Nanjing University (China).

Ten master degree students from two different departments (Department of Humanities and Department for Political and Social Sciences) together with five students from the Nanjing University (Department of World History) had the opportunity to attend lectures on History, Chinese culture, History of the Relationship between China and the Western world in modern and contemporary ages, with special focus on topics, such as economic and political globalization.

The teaching activities have been delivered by different professors from the Department of World History, Nanjing University, and by Prof. Abbattista, Global history professor at the University of Trieste.

Students also had the opportunity to visit many relevant places in the surroundings of this imperial city, as the Nanjing Massacre Memorial, where after an official ceremony the Director of the Memorial Hall, Dr. Zhang Jianjun met the delegation and Prof. Liu Cheng, UNESCO Chair in Peace Studies, gave a lecture.

The whole experience has been thrilling and enriching from an academic, scientific, cultural, institutional and inter-personal point of view. It is thanks to the long-lasting friendship between the two universities, the collaboration among the involved departments and the great support of the Innovation Office, in charge of international relations, that this goal could be achieved.
