Statistical model for Covid-19

14 April, 2020

Prof. Leonardo Egidi and Nicola Torelli – Department of Economics, UniTS – published a statistical model for Covid-19 in order to predict the number of people who need to be treated in the hospitals of the different regions and their intensive care departments, day by day, taking into account lockdown measurements and different time exposures.

The aim is to provide answers in terms of patient distribution within the different hospitals, now overcrowded due to the pandemic crisis.

Today the statistical model accurately predicted the number of beds occupied in intensive care in the FVG Region (60), and in general it went very well for the other Italian regions as well.
