International Summer School Organized by University of Trieste and Riga Technical University to Take Place in Italy
International summer school Nonlinear Life edition 3 organized by University of Trieste (UniTs) and Riga Technical University (RTU) will take place in Trieste from 20 August until 30 August 2019. The summer school will be attended by 18 students from 11 countries – Belarus, Czech Republic, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Spain. In the previous two years, the Nonlinear Life summer school took place in Riga and was initiated and organized by RTU.
The main emphasis of the summer school will be on biomedical engineering, biomaterials, life sciences, medical technologies and IT for medicine. Lectures on information technologies and their usage in the field of medicine, application of smart textiles in biomedicine, interaction between biomaterials and the human body, non-destructive testing of materials, computed tomography and other topics will be held by 14 professors from Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy and Latvia.
The participants of the summer school will visit the international research centre Elettra - Sincrotrone Trieste SCpA, Cattinara University Hospital, the Tactile Perception and Learning Lab of the International School for Advanced Studies as well as the laboratories of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics in Trieste.
By organizing this summer school, UniTs and RTU aim to prepare specialists in inter-disciplinary fields, capable of not only developing high-tech products, but also successfully integrating themselves within the working environment of international companies and implementing different interdisciplinary projects in a team. World's leading researchers, representing different fields and countries, have been involved in the preparation of the scientific content of the summer school, thus promoting cooperation opportunities between students and professors and strengthening the international recognition of UniTs and RTU.
