Message from the new Rector, Prof. Roberto Di Lenarda

01 August, 2019

Dear Colleagues, dear Students

Thanks to the trust that you have placed in me, I today take up my post as Rector of our University.

I am well aware of the complexity of the challenge, but wish to confirm to you all that I am absolutely determined to do everything in my powers to render the system less rigid and embrace a results-based culture that is both transparent and, as far as possible, shared.

My specific commitment is to respect and emphasize the value of those who work in and produce results for the University. I am convinced that this can be achieved through innovation in processes and technology, together with more efficient models of staff planning and budget allocation, including a review of building policy.

The job we face is complicated and intricate, beginning with the consolidation of the administration (Director General, senior management, administrative and teaching secretariats) based on a new model of governance that facilitates participation and grants appropriate autonomy to Departments in order to rekindle our strengths and reward merit.

The fundamental objective is to improve everyone’s quality of life, enhancing motivation and pride in being part of our University.

We will all have to do our utmost, and I am sure that we will.

Roberto Di Lenarda
