Recognition of foreign qualifications

The application must be submitted between 5 July and 7 October 2021 (mandatory dates).

• If you are a EU-citizen or from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, San Marino, or the Vatican, or if you are regularly registered in Italy for any reason, you may apply directly to this University;
• If you are not a citizen of the European Union or of the countries listed above and reside abroad, you must first contact the Italian consulate in your country of residence.

Exceptions to the deadlines indicated:

• if you request recognition of a medical qualification (Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis, or Degree in Health Professions), you must apply by the deadlines indicated in the Admission notices published on the webpage “How to…Years after the first"
• if your foreign qualification is included in inter-governmental agreements (some academic qualifications from Austria, Ecuador and Slovenia may be recognised), you can apply at any time in accordance with the procedures indicated in the individual agreements.

1. Original or certified copy of the Secondary School Leaving Qualification;
2. Statement of comparability of the Secondary School Leaving Qualification (*) issued by CIMEA (Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence): CIMEA has an agreement with UniTS and guarantees the issue of the Statement of comparability within 15 working days from the acceptance of the request. 3. Original or certified copy of the University Qualification;
4. Statement of comparability of the University Qualification (*) issued by CIMEA (Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence): CIMEA has an agreement with UniTS and guarantees the issue ot the Statement of comparability within 15 working days from the acceptance of the request. 5. Transcript of records showing the exams taken and the relevant marks (and any credits/hours of study) (*);
6. Syllabuses of the examinations passed in each discipline;
7. Copy of the degree thesis, if required (**);
8. Copy of the residence permit for non-EU citizens;
9. Any documentation proving Italian knowledge.

(*)The Statement of comparability provided for in points 2 and 4 can be replaced by a Declaration of value of the title or by an assessment issued by an ENIC-NARIC centre.

If your academic degree has been issued by a EU High Institution, the Statement of comparability and the Transcript of Records with the relevant marks can be replaced by the Diploma Supplement providing it contains all information necessary to assess the academic career.

 (**) As an alternative of its full translation, the degree thesis can be accompanied by a summary in Italian or English.

Documents drawn up in foreign languages must be legalized or bear an “Apostille” (unless exempted under international conventions) and submitted together with an official translation into Italian. An exception is for documents provided for in points 1, 3 and 5, that may be accepted in English, and 6, which may also be accepted in other languages allowed by the relevant didactic structures.

Knowledge of Italian is required to obtain recognition. It will be verified either by way of an interview or on the basis of suitable documentation, as specified in point 9.

• Register on the Online Services page -https://esse3.units.it/Home.do- and keep your username and password;
• To submit your application and documentation send an email to: riconoscimento.titoli.esteri@amm.units.it
• The application form must indicate the exact title of the foreign qualification and the title of the corresponding Italian course that you have chosen among those included in the Trieste University's Courses and Programmes and for which you are requesting the recognition. Put a revenue stamp of 16 € on the application before sending it (FORM);
• Go to your personal Area of the Online Services and check under the link ‘Payments’. Verify if the fee for the assessment of qualifications (€150.00) has been charged;
• Pay the fee to complete the application that will be sent to the relevant Department for its assessment. For payments, see How to pay fees.

NB: BASED CURRENT HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS CONCERNING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE FORM SHOULD BE SENT BY EMAIL TO THE PIAZZALE EUROPA STUDENT SECRETARIAT OF YOUR COURSE OF STUDY. IF REQUESTED, THE ONLINE DUTY STAMP OR THE EXTRA CHARGE WILL BE CHARGED ON THE ONLINE SERVICES  - PAYMENTS

• If the assessment is positive, the application will be submitted to the Academic Senate and a Rector’s Decree will be published declaring that the qualification is equivalent.
• You will be advised of the conclusion of the procedure by email, and a charge of €200.00 will be debited to you. You must pay the charge via your Personal Area on the Online Services (ESSE3).
• If the assessment does not grant full recognition, you will be notified of the department’s deliberations and the integrations required. If you are interested, you must enrol within 30 days of receipt of the notification to avoid a charge for late submission of documentation.
