La notizia della liberazione di Patrick Zaki ci riempie di gioia e sollievo – commenta il Rettore dell’Università degli Studi di Trieste, Roberto Di Lenarda – dopo oltre tre anni di attesa, il giovane ricercatore potrà finalmente essere riaccolto dalla comunità accademica italiana che ha seguito con apprensione e partecipazione il suo difficile percorso.
Mi auguro che in futuro non dovremo più assistere a vicende analoghe e ai ricercatori venga assicurata ampia tutela e rispetto delle attività svolte all’estero. Mi auguro inoltre che sia fatta chiarezza sul caso Regeni e che sia fornita rapida soluzione a numerose difficili situazioni che coinvolgono anche altri ricercatori italiani e internazionali.

I hope that in the future, we will no longer have to witness similar events, and researchers will be ensured broad protection and respect for their activities carried out abroad. I also hope that clarity will be shed on the Regeni case and that quick solutions will be provided for numerous difficult situations involving other Italian and international researchers.
