Below, you can find general information on how to apply for graduation.


Graduation Sessions, Academic Year 2019/2020

 

Summer session
  • dates 16th June 2023 30th September 2023
  • online graduation applications: between 2nd May 2023 19th May 2023

Applications are made for a single graduation session and are valid if all necessary documents are presented and payment made by the deadline.

University registration book and student cards do not need to be presented and should be kept by the student.

After the deadline but before the final date to pass the last examination, application can be made with payment of a late application charge. Contact your student secretariat for details.

The student secretariat will automatically cancel applications if all documents are not provided or payment has not been made.

Autumn session
  • dates 1st October 2023 31st January 2024
  • online graduation applications: between 21st August 2023 9th September 2023

NOTE: if you intend to graduate in the autumn or special session, do NOT pay the first instalment of enrolment fees for the new academic year. If you graduate, fees are automatically cancelled; if you do not, you can still enrol as shown in the Fees Notice.

Bachelor’s degrees: how to apply
  1. print the supplementary form for the final examination, complete and sign the form and save it as a pdf file;
  2. access the online student secretariat;
  3. choose ‘Almalaurea’ (Graduation) from the menu: complete or update your Questionnaire and save the receipt;
  4. choose ‘Inserisci domanda di conseguimento titolo’ (Degree award) from the menu: complete and attach the documents indicated in points 1 and 3;
  5. check all the data and confirm the application;
  6. choose ‘Pagamenti’ (Payment) from the menu, pay fees due by the deadline indicated;
  7. access your department’s webpage to check deadlines and any other requirements.
Master’s/Specialisation and pre-reform degrees: how to apply
  1. print the supplementary form for the final examination, complete and sign the form and save it as a pdf file;
  2. access the online student secretariat;
  3. choose ‘Almalaurea’ (Graduation) from the menu: complete or update your Questionnaire and save the receipt;
  4. choose ‘Inserisci domanda di conseguimento titolo’ (Degree award) from the menu: complete and attach the documents indicated in points 1 and 3;
  5. check all the data and confirm the application;
  6. choose ‘Pagamenti’ (Payment) from the menu, pay fees due by the deadline indicated;
  7. print the form ‘Dissertazione della Tesi’ (Thesis Discussion) and have it signed by your supervisor and any co-supervisors;
  8. return to your personal webpage, choose ‘Conseguimento titolo’ (Degree award) in the section ‘Allegati conseguimento titolo” (Degree award documents) and upload this document by the deadline indicated for your graduation date (check this in department list on this page);
  9. Upload your thesis: the thesis must be uploaded so that it can be saved in the University Digital Archives, even if you have not granted right to access the thesis. The information shown in the frontispiece of the thesis must be exactly the same as that in the ‘Dissertazione della Tesi’ (Thesis Discussion) signed by your supervisor(s). How to upload your thesis: Save your thesis in PDF/A format (it is better to save the document directly in PDF/A format rather than converting from PDF, as this may cause technical problems). The maximum permitted file size is 20 MB. For this reason, you should save the document at the lowest resolution possible. On your personal webpage, access the menu ‘conseguimento titolo’ (Degree award) in the section ‘Riepilogo Tesi’ (Thesis Summary) and upload the thesis. NB: upload your thesis by 13.00 p.m. on the deadline indicated for your graduation date.
  10. Access your department’s webpage (see the list on this page) to check deadlines and any other requirements.
Edit or cancel your application
  • To make any changes after having closed the online procedure, contact the student secretariat of your course of study to check whether this is still possible
  • To move your graduation to the second date in the same session, inform the student secretariat of your course of study by mail.
  • To move your graduation to the next session, access the menu ‘Conseguimento titolo’ (Degree award) on your personal webpage and cancel the application. If you are not able to do this online, inform the student secretariat of your course of study by mail. You will have to re-apply for the session in which you wish to graduate.
Things to know

Returning borrowed materials

Before your graduation date, the University library will check that any borrowed materials (books, journals, dvd, cd rom) have been returned by the due dates and will contact you if you still have any outstanding loans. If you do not return the materials, the graduation commission will be informed.

Return of your original high school diploma/replacement certificate

If on enrolment you deposited your original high school diploma/replacement certificate, contact the student secretariat of your course of study to arrange for collection or despatch.
