CURRICULUM VITAE

Giulia Buttazzoni was born in Trieste on 25 August 1983.

She received the laurea triennale degree (with score 107/110 and a thesis titled “Fiber optic splice”) and the laurea specialistica degree (with score 110/110 summa cum laude with a thesis titled “Electromagnetic field synthesis by successive projections onto Maxwell’s equations”) in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Trieste in 2005 and 2008, respectively. In 2013 she received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Trieste with a thesis titled “Study and development of power synthesis techniques of arbitrary reconfigurable antenna arrays for satellite applications”. In 2011 she spent three months at ESA-ESTEC (European Space Agency-European Space Research and Technology Center, Keplerlaan 1, 2200 AG Noordwijk, The Netherlands).

In 2014 she joined the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste as a researcher in Electromagnetic fields (SSD ING-INF/02). From 2013 to 2016, she taught a course on “Antennas” for the laurea magistrale degree in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Trieste. Since 2017, she teaches a course on “Antennas and radiowave propagation” for the laurea magistrale degree in Computer and Electronic Engineering at the University of Trieste. Since 2019, she also teaches a course on “Electromagnetic fields” for the laurea triennale degree in Computer and Electronic Engineering at the University of Trieste.

She is author/co-author of many journal and conference papers. She serves as a reviewer for specialized international journals and conferences. She co-organized and co-chaired a special session on “Innovative Methods of Synthesis for Aperiodic Antenna Arrays” at the International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications, held in Verona, Italy (11-15 September 2017). She was invited to serve as a session co-chair for the session “Wireless Communications” at the 2019 IEEE AP-S International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, held in Atlanta, Georgia (7-12 July 2019).

She is Member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, of the SIEM (Italian association of electromagnetism) and of the CNIT (Italian national interuniversity consortium for telecommunications).

She is mother of three sons.
