Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions is the academic response to the globalization of societies and markets.
It must be not a wish nor a priority; it must be an institutional imperative. It is the way Universities use to improve the quality of (their) teaching and learning, but also a "system of activities and instruments at homethat help staff and students to develop intercultural skills" (Beelen and Leask) and internationalise their curricula.
Intercultural approach is a key word for the International Office of the University of Trieste. Differences of systems, language barriers and administrative obstacles are approached with an effort to diminish their negative effects, to build bridges and, at the same time, to provide solutions.
The office gives support to the University management in putting into effect the Internationalisation strategy, by actively participating in international projects, closing collaborating in strategic alliances and institutional partnerships, included university membership in international networks, with an attempt of closing the gap between policy and practice.
The office plays also the role of university contact point for EU Structural and Investment Funds at a strategic level.
This office is not in charge with student mobility programmes or with International degree-seeking students. Students may therefore refer to the following contacts:
Mobility programmes (Erasmus+ and other international programmes): firstname.lastname@example.org
